1905

Carnall Hall opens as an all-girls dormitory, the first in the state of Arkansas. It is named after Miss Ella Howison Carnall, a beloved English professor.

The dormitory turns into a fraternity home for Phi Gamma Delta for 10 years, from 1967 until 1977.

Now housing university offices and classrooms, Carnall Hall is listed on the National Register for Historic Places.

Thanks to the passionate efforts of the community and dedicated preservationists, Carnall Hall is saved from demolition through public/private partnerships.

The new Inn at Carnal Hall receives a $6.3 million renovation that includes restoration of the front porch and first-floor staircases. A year later, it joins the Historic Hotels of America.

Recent renovations like a redesigned lobby and social spaces add modern elements that blend with the Inn’s historic past. Updates to Ella’s Table and Lambeth Lounge present guests with an elevated dining and bar experience.
